Learning social skills takes practice. For many children, knowing what to say, how to join in, or how to respond in everyday situations doesn't always come naturally.
That's why we've created a free printable Social Skills Board Game – a fun, interactive way to help children develop communication, friendship, problem-solving and social confidence through play.
Designed for children of different ages and abilities, it's a valuable resource for families, classrooms and allied health sessions.

Why social skills matter
Social skills help children build friendships, communicate their needs, solve problems and feel more confident in everyday situations.
Some children, including those with autism, ADHD or developmental differences, may benefit from extra opportunities to practise these skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Our printable board game encourages children to explore common social situations, helping them think about different ways to respond while building confidence along the way.
Learning through play
Play creates natural opportunities for children to practise social thinking without the pressure of getting the "right" answer.
As players move around the colourful game board, they'll discuss everyday situations such as:
🤝 Asking someone to play
💬 Joining a conversation or game
😊 Recognising how others might be feeling
🧠 Solving problems with friends
❤️ Showing kindness and empathy
🙋 Asking for help when needed
Each prompt encourages children to think, talk and practise important life skills they'll use every day.
Gentle conversation starters
This isn't a test, and there are no right or wrong answers.
If a child isn't sure what to say, that's perfectly okay. These moments provide opportunities to explore ideas together, role-play different responses and build confidence over time.
For example:
"If someone says no when you ask to play, it might feel disappointing. What are some other things you could do?"
By talking through different situations together, children learn that there are often many positive ways to respond.
