The NDIS funds psychological services that help individuals with disabilities develop and improve their independence. NDIS psychologists focus on capacity building and are usually found in the ‘Capacity Building’ category of a participant's NDIS plan. So, they support greater decision-making skills and increased independence. Their support can be in the form of psychological assessments, psychoeducation or other forms of psychological support techniques that are tailored to each participant’s requirements. 

To access your NDIS funding, you need to provide evidence of a mental health condition, and support will be determined by the impact the mental health condition has on your lifestyle.

The NDIS will need to assess:

• Difficulties you experience as a result of your mental health condition
• How have your difficulties reduced your ability in everyday activities?

To support your access to NDIS funding and allow you to provide evidence, a psychologist can conduct an assessment and report for you.
